Overview

What this gives you

Bending a drive to ninety degrees is not cosmetic. It puts the platters and the read heads under a load they cannot survive, and it deforms the circuit board. The result is a drive that cannot be reassembled, re-imaged or sold — which is exactly the outcome a destruction register needs to describe.

Because it is manual, the PDS-75 keeps working during a power cut. That is a real advantage in sites where power is intermittent, and it removes the single point of failure that an automatic crusher creates. With the NSA listing, it is the crusher most commonly specified alongside the T-4 and T-5 degaussers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Below that the platters and read heads can survive. At roughly ninety degrees the platters, the heads, the motor and the PCB all fail, and the drive cannot be re-imaged or resold.

It is one of the most portable machines in the range, with an optional deployment case. It pairs naturally with the Proton 1100 wand for multi-site work.

Not effectively. Solid-state media needs a dedicated shredder such as the PDS-88, or the PDS-30 with its SSD kit. A crusher alone is not enough for flash.
