Take the destruction to the media. The Proton 1100 is a handheld wand that sanitises drives, diskpacks, drum memories and tapes where they are, rather than in a central sanitisation room.

What this gives you
Some sites simply cannot be centralised. A branch with twenty drives and no safe way to ship them back to a data centre, a client site where the media must not leave the building, a field engineering team carrying spares — for those situations a wand is the only realistic answer.
The 1100 applies a full-cycle positive and negative field, which clears the remnant magnetic signature that a conventional erase or reformat leaves behind. It is tested for perpendicular magnetic disk devices and media up to 5,000 Oe, and it is paced by the operator so the field is held for the full cycle rather than swept.
